Eurovision 2008

For the 53rd time the most interesting song contest, ‘Eurovision’, will be held in Serbia. This year it will be in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, because the winner from last year’s contest was the Serbian song – Molitva.

Last year the song ‘Molitva ’ was presented by the Serbian singer Marija Serifovic. Afterwards this song is recorded in several different languages – English, Finnish and Russian.

Having won the first place Marija Serifovic gained the opportunity Eurovision 2008 contest to be held in Belgrade. The contest will be held in Belgrade Arena, which is one of the largest hall in Europe. This hall has about twenty thousand seats, that hopefully will be enough to gather together the audience for the entire show.

Countries from all across Europe can participate in this contest. Eurovision 2008 semi-final will be on 22nd May and the final will be on 24th May. Each country should give in one song which has to represent the country’s music. The song can be written in either the native language or in English. Some of the rules say that the song should not be previously published or broadcasted. From the participant it is expected the song to be new, so that it will be new for the jury and the millions of people watching the contest, supposed to vote. During the whole contest there are several ellegible broadcasters, which are authorized to broadcast Eurovision in the specified country.

The preparations for Eurovision 2008 have already started. It has been reported that lots of hotel rooms are already booked, because of the many participant, guests and fans expected to come. Each country’ delegation will bring about 20 to 25 members. Furthermore, there are expected more than several hundreds members of the press.

I think the great singer, compositeur and musician Zeljko Joksimovic, will be the host. The best host, because of all that he had made for the Serbian Music. His song, Lane Moje second place in 2004, was really beautifull, and after that, he made the music for the most beautifull song in the Eurosong Contest 2006, Lejla, from Bosnian Grupo Hari Mata Hari. He is the really Serbian Winner, and the most important Serbian Ambassador in all the world. His song and his voice are really specials, wonderfull, spectacular….. Thanks four your music.

Althought, i’m not European, I’m South Americaine, and my language is spanish, i realy enjoy this great festival, beacause we can know the wonderfull music you ever do in Europe. (I desire you understand my English, I do my better effort)

    Congratulations Serbia!!!

I am not personally a fan of the Serbian song but congratulations. I just wish that everyone would stop over looking the UK - our songs are never the worst each year!

thank you ,Olgat . I am Bosnian girl and I have same opinion like you about “Zeljko “and about song “Lejla”.

Why do Ireland finish up in brutal places the hole time? They deserve to be in the top 10 each year as they seem to be the only country which have not resorted to ridiculous gimmics to get votes

I’m from California in the USA, I’ve heard of Eurovision but have never seen it on television, why
is it so popular,. I’ve been wanting to know about this for years what is it with things like this. The closest thing we get to Eurovision in America is the MTV European Video Music Awards [which in some ways doesn’t really equate] but at the same time i’ve heard a lot of european music but I’ve been wanting to see it put on American soil can someone please tell me why ths happens.

    Hello,
I too, believe Joksimovici would be great as host.
Though I am a Romanian, and my language is of latin origin, for the last 3 years I have enjoyed and also voted Serbia. The songs, starting with Lane Moje were awsome. Also, after Serbian songs, I have enjoyed the most that of the Bosnian singers especially Leyla.
I hope and wish that they can come up with something good this year. Most of all, I like that they DO represent their country and do not sing in any other language. Good luck to Serbia and all the other competitors.

Greetings to everyone from sunny Greece!
I’ve been a fan of the eurovision since 1982. I even volunteered when the contest was held in Greece in 2006 (what a briliant experience). I’m afraid last year’s contest was a huge dissapointment. I hope this year the level will be higher so I don’t loose faith.
    Go Eurovision!!!

Serbia is again great this year, so it’s possible they’ll win again. Shame for Ireland though, they were great for so many years, but I don’t think anyone will take them serious this year. Irish people are great singers, they could have chosen something else to represent them.

I’m a Pakistani student in England… According to me and may be in point of view of majority of the people this world the selection should be like that. No.1: Armenia, 2: Greece, 3: Iceland, 4: Israel, 5: Albania, 5: Iceland, 6: Ukraine, 7: Russia, 8: Serbia.
Anyhow I’m happy with the unaccepted and unfair outcome of the contest.. -:)) and overall it was a very good competition to watch.

Thanks to Belgrade for the awesome shows they have given us throughout this week!! I have to say I was a bit disappointed regarding the Maltese result..Morena gave a spectacular performance last thursday and at least in my opinoin should have made it up to the finals. I would also like to comment on yesterday’s results. In my opinoin Sweden with the song ‘Hero” had an amazing song and definetley didn’t deserve to obtain only those points. It should have ranked in the top 3 because she gave a splendid performance and her song was one of the best!! It will for sure make a great hit during this summer in the Maltese Islands!!

    Thanks
