I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH THE STATEMENT THAT I READ ON ESCTODAY,WHICH IS THE FOLLOWING

‘1. Really disappointed with the winner!!! Dima and his song were NOTHING special… And having a world class ice skating champion dancing like crazy in 6 square meters of ice, was sad…

    2. The real winner looks like it is Greece, we like it or not. Greece got the most 12 points (one less than Russia), all out of traditionally eurovision countries, and was voted by most of them. Kalomira gave a good eurovision performance.

    3. The eastern block DID NOT vote for the European Union countries. It is purely russians voting for… russians !!!

    3. There were countries like Turkey, France, UK and others that deserved much better places.

    4. I really liked the Israel song, but why is Israel in Eurovision?

    5. Not all countries should vote in the final, but only the ones that have made it to the final. But this was of course done for financial and broadcasting reasons.

    6. ONLY EUROPEAN UNION COUNTRIES SHOULD BE TAKING PART IN THE CONTEST. AT THE END, THIS IS A CONTEST PAYED MAINLY BY THEM, AND IT HAS ALSO STARTED FOR THEM. FOR WHAT THE EU SHOULD BE. And i am sorry, but we can not put in the same basket, old, new, friends and foes…’

I HOPE ITALY WILL BE BACK AT THE EUROVISION SONG CONTEST NEXT YEAR.

i cant believe russia won, united kingdom came joint last we definately shouldnt have come last, andy sang it perfectly and he brang fun to the show with out the song being stupid. France got done better in the eurovision and the united kingdom was definately better than that! and also israels song was amazing and that didnt even do too well i thought that it was gonna be in the top 3.
am a big fan of the eurovision but if its goin to be so political then its not worth watchin cos its so predictable, eurovision isnt as good as it used to be!

I’m russian, but I don’t like Dima Bilan at all. But still of course I wanted him to win.
I’ve never heard anything more stupid, than something you’ve written. You are just a simple racist!!! Eurovision is made for Europe, and EU has nothing to do with it, it’s just the less half of Europe. I’ve been living in Paris for more than 2 years and I’ve never heard such pathetic shit. So try to gain little knowledge in history and democracy, only after you can post here.

P.S. Your point of view - is nothing))) LOL

    This is ridiculous.

The Eurovision Song Contest became a joke a long time ago. I lost all respect for this contest as it will never reward the best song but the one interpreted by some russian Enrique Iglesias with his chest showing (where’s decency?)or some half naked chick shaking her butt and with no singing skills whatsoever (Ani Lorak was the only one who really had a powerfull voice but worked too hard on the shaking butt thing in the final, got tired and it showed up in her voice).
I think the decision should come 50% from the population vote and 50% from critics who actually judge vocal capacities as well as musical originality (I mean, como on, that little greek pink nightmare imitating Britney Spears? Even my 12 years old cousin can sing better than that).

I’m really disappointed as many other europeans out there. Why bother making a music with some quality?

    Hi, everyone!
I’m from Ukraine and to be honest we’re all shocked that Russia has won..If It’s the best song, so I have no words…borring, even too much…If somebody doesn’t know I’ll say that in Russia Dima Bilan is a singer of 13-14-year old girls…such a “sweetie”…….serious people can’t listen to his songs…this is how It is…the truth…and now It’s evident who voted for him…It’s injustice…there were much more better songs, which deserved to win…But finally, what do we want? If the majority of people don’t have a good taste, so It’s their problem…It’s a pity, that really beautiful songs were unnoticed… It’s seems to me, that money and politics decide everything in this life…too sad….

this competition doesn’t already make sense! People here sie should vote for the song rather than to the state. After all this boy has the tragic accent it wasn’t English!! If he doesn’t know language let him sing in Russian. It was terrible! Yeah but since neighbouring states are voting for themselves watching it to the song not even to the vocalist it’s no wonder that a junk is winning out ahh I apologise after all to this Timbaland created oh my let us clap our hands for the biggest mistake of the Eurovision!!

Of greeting for everyone naive which still believe that at one time they will win the Eurovision because they have the song and they don’t come from the biggest country…

Once again he is showing sie an Eurovision isn’t a competition for the best song in Europe. After all it is a mistake! What it is for the accent, after all it English wasn’t! If he isn’t good at language let him sing in Russian just as well he could go on stage and remain silent yet neighbouring states of the former Soviet Union would vote for it. I apologise to Ahh after all so produced this Timbalad ladies and gentlemen! let us clap our hands for the biggest mistake of the this year’s concert!!

    Pitful…

    @ non4bidden

Sorry,I didn’t mean to make you upset.
Eventually,Russia won the Eurovision Song Contest.Congrats to Russia and to you…. not to Bilan.
Calling me ‘racist’ it’s so obvious that you have no idea what is the true meaning of democracy, since you cannot accept diversity and you don’t RESPECT different opinions.
Dima-the Diva!-Bilan lacks star quality. He may be the eurovision winner but that’s that.
He’s so vain ….. so easily to be disliked ….of course he’s a super star in the eastern european coutries, but he’s not an artist. He’s more like a product….

I am so happy that Russia finally got what they deserved already 2 years ago, but that time Monsters won and nobody was judging the winners!

Therefore do not judge the winners this time. At the end of the day the winners are proclaimed, countries voted and made their choice.

Greece made good performance, but somebody was better and others were not as good as Russia.

Just enjoy the song of Dima Bilan and do not listen to it if you do not like it, and wait for the next year hope that YOUR country will win. My country (Lithuania) even did not manage to get into the Second Semi-Final and I totally agree because their song was absolutely hopeless, Britain (where I live) did not amuse and came in the less scored points. And I do not feel jealous about Russia’s victory - they really made it better than anybody and were a bit luckier than others.

Finally, this competition for Europe Reunion and showing the talents, about great entertaining night and about many good songs, it is not about the reason for making quarrels on the national grounds.

Russia is great!!! Congratulations who was supporting her and who was voting for Russia’s performance. Apologies to jealous and agree disbelievers!!!

  24. juliana said »

I am russian, too, but I don’t like Dima Bilan at all either. The song, the performance, the voice - everything was disappointing really. I do not think it deserved the first place. It’s a pity because there had been better candidates from Russia in russian semi-final who could make a better show. Evgeny Plushenko, Edvin Marton - what was all that for when Eurovision is a SONG CONTEST?

As for the songs and voices and performances, i really liked Serbia, Israel, Denmark, Norway, Iceland. Latvia and Spain - funny and cool :) And sorry about Switzerland - Paolo Meneguzzi is a really good singer and the song was beautiful!

Anyway, everybody is welcome to Russia to Eurovision 2009!!!

San Marino gave 12 pts to Greece and Kalomira “Secret Combination”.I conclude that people in San Marino like Italian feel the Greeks like brothers. They have same culture and there are very close.
Armenians like Greeks, but Greeks really love Armenian since they gave 12 pts to Sirusho.
Kalomira received 12 pts from 6 coutries which Ani Lorak received 12 pts only from one country.Still Ani Lorak ended up 2nd.
I’m really surprised for the place that Charlotte Perrelli ended up.She was a eurovision winner in 1999.
A notification for Poland cause I know that many Polish join this site.Poland supports the bloc of eastern european coutries while none of these coutries seriously voted for Isi Gee…

Again these are my thoughts and it’s not my intention to insault anyone.I hope this is perfectly understood.

I’m russian and I’m very-very glad of Dima’s victory! Okay maybe that isn’t his best song, but his energetics and thirst for being the best…and his strong clear voice…and his original show! He is really worth this nice victory!
I also very liked Armenian, Greek, Albanian and Ukrainian songs! Each of those had both something special to become winners and definite flaws for not being victorious…
Dima you are the best, I congratulate you!!!

TO EVERYONE, WHO IS UPSET, DISAPPOINTED, SHOCKED…WHATEVER!
I havent seen the final. and to say the truith, have never seen “Eurovision song contest ” from the beginning to the end.
really, I find it real trash. its not a song contest, it does only with politics. everybody in Russia knows that.
are u all so naive to write that Israel, Greese or…… ahhh….Turkey are better.
RUSSIA is the best ! we are going to host Olympic games. we have won hockey an football. the best Russia has won this contest too.
speaking about Dima. …..TO GAbrysia……. ; are u good in Russian? can u even pronounce a single word of this language? i suppose no. so could u please leave er comments by yourself.
of course, Dima is not the best Russian singer. but really he is the best for Eurovision. PEOPLE i mean the MASS enjoy such artists. no wonder. dima is sexy and has sweet voice. though i dont listen to his songs, im really happy that he won yesterday.
im really proud of my country. may be for the first time. i hope, the EU citizens will learn to be happy for Russia. SOMETIMES.
thanks 4 er interest and time.

This is one of the biggest joke i’ve ever seen!!!
I wonder why do we watch this contest,we should call it east eurovision
I would be ashamed to organize a contest like this
try to listen real music and then maybe you can organize something good!!!!

  41. k.v. said »

Unfortunately, Eastern Europe has many Russians, moved there during the Soviet occupation and that’s really why Russia always gets so many votes from these countries. And that’s not racism, thats just talking about things as they are. Does anybody really like the song? Don’t think so… Even the Russian media bashed it.
Second problem with the contest is that it’s center has moved already out of Europe. It’s usual that neighbours vote for neighbours and with the addition of these independent parts on former jugoslavia and some other countries not even in Europe, the style of Eurovision has changed to a more Eastern, even a bit Arabic. I have nothing against these countries, just that the big, rich countries of Europe that pay main money for the show are less and less interested in this if this continues.

    2. The real winner looks like it is Greece, we like it or not. Greece got the most 12 points (one less than Russia), all out of traditionally eurovision countries, and was voted by most of them. Kalomira gave a good eurovision performance.

  49. Rasta_Sinner said »

Some people say Russia won OLNY because the countries of former USSR have voted for it. People…. IF IT WAS THE ONLY REASON THEN RUSSIA COULD HAVE WON LONG LONG AGO!
Yes, lots of russians moved to European countries during the times of USSR, but do you think there are enough russians there to say that this fact is a reason of Bilan’s winning?
    I don’t think so.
Why are you trying to find some excuses anf reasons why Dima Bilan won? It doesn’t make any sence.
I know, two years ago he had rather better song and he should have won then but it didn’t happen! It was really unfair, so i think it’s fair he has won this time taking into consideration his previous experience at eurovision.
You know there’s a good proverb: DO NOT JUDGE THE WINNER.
I’m really glad that people have their own opinion anf i think it’s quite Ok that somebody likes Bilan’s perdormance and somebody doesn’t.
But HAVING YOUR OWN OPINION and JUDGING or being jelous are really DIFFERENT things, remember that.

    P. S. i enjoted the songs of Finland, Armenia, Greece and Latvia!!!!!

Hey, take it easy, ladies and gentlemen! ;-)

Everything was in the context of the contest. Finally, who have voted? That was reflection of liking of the countries that participated in the contest.

If some of your favourites were not in the leaders… what should we do? The results were completely democratic. Draw your attenitoion in the latter, because recently more and more people are trying to use this term as a cover.

Well, anyway, I want to say to today’s sceptics, you day will come tomorrow, as for now, look at the results!

As for my humble opinion about the participants of the finals, most of all I liked ISRAEL, NORWAY, ARMENIA and SERBIA. I’m not talking about Russia in order not to traumatize the
minds of some of here’s visitors. :-) I’m sorry, but I didn’t find UKRAINE and GREECE such interesting that they could be in the top.

    Cheers!

Dima Bilan is a joke!! Someone told here he is sexy? haha! he is totally gay, who is so fond of himself, of his performance. But to me his song, his image, his performance (overacting) with this skater waving his hands while skating on 5 sq m (okay he is champion so what?) was really stupid, and his voice is so poor and english pronunciation (especially word impossible in the song is awful). I don’t understand why he won?! i am from ukraine, but i really liked Sweden, Armenia, Denmark, Bosnia songs and of course Ani Lorak’s, I would rather see them as winners. And being from Ukraine, i voted for Bosnia (not for our country neighbour!) i am really disappointed with the show results and would never watch it again, even though i was a big fan of it.

Because now Eurovision is a contest where only money and political situation is important…

I wonder who voted for Dima Bilan , I think only the people who don’t havy any musical taste or don’t understand that this is the song contest - not jumping-and-screaming-on-stage contest ;/
There were many musicans who deserved on high votes from you people ( and I’m not talking here about Greece or Ukraine which were horrible pop-songs too) .
And btw Israel had the most beautiful song on that ‘contest’ that boy should’n jumping and take his clothes of on the stage, he was just singing and he knew he was amazing but he was MODEST ! Even if that country isn’t in Europe I voted for Boaz Mauda’s song cause he deserved it.

PS: Serbia thank you for really good organisation !! At least you showed to Europe that you’re very friendly country with fantastic people.
PS no 2 : I’m really sad that all Europe don’t like Poland (cause you know that our song deserved on higher place ) . The truth is that you hardly know our country and even if we sent Madonna on ESC you would never give us high notes. It’s so political and unfair :( I really shame that I’m Polish girl (it’s not about eurovision) I just don’t understand why in other countries people hate us cause we are the same people like all over the world :( .
Sorry for that long writing and fot my english cause I learn it yet .

It is a false victory. Russian diasporas attack phones and vote for Russia. If not to change a rule, Russia will win every year.

  71. Ivan Mladek said »

Eurovision Song Contest has become a shit recently and it does not make any sense to carry on with such regulations. We should come back to previous rules, when professional jury had decided which songs were the best. Now everything goes about politics, geography and international relations, so maybe let’s just start voting without wasting time on listening to all 25 songs? Europe is so divided continent that all bigger countries cannot compete with those smaller ones, because they do not have so many supporters! It is very easy to presume that next year again Balkanian countries and ex-Union of Soviet Socialists Republics will be on the top.

I can’t understand why when a Western European country wins eurovision, even when the winners a some monsters, the contest is considered to be very democratic and right, but when an Eastern European country wins eurovision - it is a political and an unfair contest…..
Maybe what is really unfair is to say things like “only European Union should participate in this contest” or “not every country should vote” or other stupid things like this. Do you think that these messages are read only by western european people???? How do you think that eastern european people feel when they read such unfair and stupid messages like”European Union countries should participate only, just because they provide more money for the contest”???!!! Do you think that this is FAIR???? Maybe people should think better what they wright, and more precisly the way they wright their opinions, because these ofenses are not just towards a singer or a country but towards thousands of people who are not worse or stupid just becuse they are not part of the European Union…..

Hopeless. The Eurovision Song Contest has played it’s part, and now it’s just politics (by the way: thank you Finland and Sweden for your 12 points)!

With all the tacky songs from all the new participating countries of Eastern Europe (with a few good exeptions, of course), the proper music from the West (with a few exeptions here as well: Greece = horrible) stands no chance. Everyone votes for Mother Russia. HALLO? Russia was the only participant that actually got booing from the audience i Belgrade. And STILL they win?

Denmark and France were definitely the best songs this year. Really good music, and singers that will do well outside of Eurovision. That they were beaten by this awful Russian, is just ridiculous.

There’s no point in watching Eurovision any more.

After all I’ve read I can only say - different people have different opinions. Certainly, nobody will discuss this phrase.

It’s nice to know that people from different countries are keen on music and Eurovision song contests, but it’s so ridiculous to know that only after half-century living of this art competition a lot of people realized the fact of political side of voting. Nevertheless, it’s a tradition and each one have the right to exist. Evidently, a great number of people woke up after Bilan had won. It’s so cut, isn’t so?

As I can see, we are talking not about Dima, but about Russia. It’s a great surprise to know that even Ukrainians can gossip close to them country as Russia. And how after all you can tell that all ex-USSR countries voted for Dima only because of their nearby borders?

It goes without saing, Dima was much weaker this year than in 2006. And there are some songs, which were a little bit better in one from a lot of way. But finally Bilan has won and that is the fact! That’s why it’s better to live life with fun without regrets and indignations.

Personally to Siamack: I really don’t know what to say about this: “Russians have no talent for music at all!” It shows you as unsubstantiated not even individual, just human. It’s easy to say when you’re absolutely don’t know the matter about you say. It’s empty words. It’s silly.

Well, I can only to add that I was astonished by Azerbaijani duo. They were really good! Georgia was worthy of respect, too. It’s hard to image how probably it was difficult to Diana. But she’s strong. She did everything perfectly. Of course, Ani was great and SIRUSHO.)))

Folks, being fair Bilan’s song is a weak one but I hardly heard any song that I would love to listen too in 2-3 years time. Anyone who praises Greece’s performance should think back and recall the similar one that brought them a victory just couple years ago. I am from Russia and can assure rest of community that Russia has much better performers, better songs and better singers. We already tried many of them earlier, won nothing to remember of and had bitter tears on several occasions. So what, we tried to invent the common product many in Europe like and finally scored.

Having watched Eurovision for around 10 years I understood only that mediocrity wins more often than real talent, out of the whole pile of the winners I can praise only Dana International from Israel and Marija Sherifovich from Serbia, nobody to compares to good old times where Celine Dion and Toto Cutugno amazed everyone. As I understand there are quite a lot of negative comments coming from UK but being fair all the recent performers from UK gave us nothing to remember of, that is really strange for the country that dominates in charts. So whether you take it or not it happened as it had to happen sooner or later. And finally it should be mentioned that four countries founders scored only once in the last 20 years and don’t seem to bother that much

P.S. I do not like Bilan at all, his audience in Russia is 10-14 years girls and this is really funny that he won Eurovision

  100. Lucidity said »

    to Eirik

voting in Eurovision is always a big question, i.e. your home Norway will always vote either for Denmark or for Iceland, or sometimes for Finland. And vise versa for Denmark and co. There are lots of “real” European countries that gave 0 points to Russia, BUT there is at least the same number that gave the same zero to Greece. So do not pretend there is a fair voting. Yes, it is always prearranged and real competition goes about places from 3 to 5. And sometimes that fortune comes to Finland, Greece or Ukraine. Russia’s best modern performance was in 2000 when we got the second place losing to a bunch of old dudes called “Olsen Brothers”. Voting was really unfair that time so do not blame it this time

You guys are better to shut up and leave that bull shit in your mouth. If you don’t like Dima - say - he is shit. But leave the country alone. We didn’t vote for him. I voted for Denmark - so now should I start sharing my opinion about all previous winners (2007,2006,2005 etc) telling that the countries they are from is pathetic, that people are miserable. Don’t jump from singer to a country. Yes, it is politics. But I did not notice that Norway voted for a good song but for its neighbors as well as others. I might also say a lot about that Mask group with the “best song ever” and many others “winners” but I just have enough sense to accept the failure.
By the way what EU has to do with Europe???? Where did you guys live before 50s??

By the way people, the Eurovision is not the European Union. Morocco has participated before, and Lebanon almost participated one time, but they pulled out cause of Israel.

    From Wikipedia
Eligibility to participate is not determined by geographic inclusion within the continent of Europe, despite the “Euro” in “Eurovision”—nor has it anything to do with the European Union. Israel, a Middle Eastern country has been involved since 1973. In 1980, Morocco—a North African country—participated in the Contest.

    So chill out already.

This song was not very good. If I was Russian, I wouldn’t be happy that this was the song everyone associated with Russia, cause it’s crap and it’s the equivalent of transfats and sugar for the brain. BORING. Come on, Russia, you’ve got better songs, I’ve heard them.

I can’t believe people would say this song is good. Are people’s musical tastes that BAD???
I know, even if you are Russian, you feel you have to be patriotic, but admit it, it sucked. Now I realize that this singer is popular among the pre-teen set, I understand. They are very good with SMS. I have nothing against RUSSIA but this song.
    Ugh!
I’m Spanish and at least Chikilicuatre’s song was interesting even if it wasn’t that good because most songs were dull.

That said, I think an underrated song was the French one. I liked it. It has a nice catchy rhythm. I’m sure people were distracted by the beards and things, try to get past that and look beyond, but it was very cheerful and people didn’t get it. It sounds very summery and not boring. I WILL DOWNLOAD IT!

It’s just sad to see how the folks here react on Dima’s victory. Russia was the best this year & just get over this! The fact that you live in EU does not automatically make you the best people in the world; but you just can not get over you shit and admit that you are just like all other people. You used to a weak Russia and were pretty happy with it mentoring Russia on what to do, but now all the sudden you hate Russia - simply because it’s getting back on the track. You say it’s political - I say you talk a ballshit! Dima is the best singer this year! And as you say, if you want a separate contest within EU - go ahead and swim in your own shit - nobody would bother! And do not forget to do the same for Olympic games, if you are too a chiken to loose it too!

  118. Strider said »

If Eurovision is european contest, then all european countries up to Urals and Caucasia must have the same rights, or the contest cannot be named Democratic.
Some guys here think that if western country wins it is fairly. But can you count the total population of Eastern part and Western part of Europe? You will be unpleasantly surprised when found that Eastern part has much more population, so it deserves more weight in voting. So it is not strange that Russia won.
But if Russia won because “russians vote for russians”, then they admit that all Eastern Europe is russian. Is it really so? Are Latvia, Lithuania, Poland russian countries? No, but they give to Russia many scores.
When somebody speaks about EU only contest, do them know that Switserland is not EU country? So these people propose pure political voting system.

I don’t want to support any country. I agree with opinion af many people that Russia won because of support from post soviet republic (except Azerbaijan) and I agree with opinion that we should come back to previous rules, when professional jury had decided which songs were the best. Otherwise we’ll see only victory of counrties with strong diaspora like Russia, Greece and Armenia. As last year Russia, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Greece gave votes to Armenia. Very ridiculously. It means even if Enrique Iglesias will represant Spain he will never win? For justice I want to say that music from Sweden, Norway, Azerbaijan, Poland, Albania and Turkey was more attractive than songs which filled places in top 4. Many regret

It is really dissapointing that the winner becomes from ‘friendly’ and neighbouring votes and the organisation can not stop it for one more time. The winner is Austria that mentioned the whole situation and they do not participate. OK everybody has his personal view, but where is Israel, Norway, Portugal, UK and Spain? At least Ukraine and Greece are at the top. Russia has many ‘friends’ and its song could be between 5-10 and no more.

If some of your favourites were not in the leaders… what should we do? The results were completely democratic. Draw your attenitoion in the latter, because recently more and more people are trying to use this term as a cover.

Well, anyway, I want to say to today’s sceptics, you day will come tomorrow, as for now, look at the “score-board”!

To the persons who write here, “I didn’t like the song…” and so on:
Where were you? Did you vote yourself to try making the results more “right”?
You are angry because not your favourite won. It is obvious. We all are humans. If you don’t like the contest, if you think it is trash, why do you watch it year by year? What a self-torture? It is also obvious that because of some closeness in different areas sometimes people of particular country prefer to vote for participants from those very country that are “close” to them. Because they want to do so, whether you like it or not. And, please note, so-called Eastern countries often win because in most cases their songs sound better. Would you dispute about it?

As for my humble opinion about the participants of the finals, most of all I liked, NORWAY, ARMENIA, SERBIA and ISRAEL. I’m not talking about RUSSIA in order not to traumatize the
minds of some of here’s visitors. :-) I also liked the Turkish song. Albanian song sounded nice, but, unfortunately, the girl couldn’t perform it as well as she was able.
I’m sorry, but I didn’t find UKRAINE and GREECE such interesting that they could be in the top. Greek song is nice, but, I’m sorry, I think it is a little too simple (in the aspect of its text). Ukrainian… An opposite situation, the text is better, but I didn’t like the melody. I would like to note that both songs were performed well enough, but I still don’t want to place them higher than the 6th place.

    Cheers!

Hello Europe and all Eurovision fans…

This year there was a large number of GOOD songs from countries who put in a real effort to win!!!

But unfortunately the victor was - surprise, surprise - Russia it had been common knowledge that Russia was going to win. “The word went out it was Russia’s turn, and all the bookies’ and punters’ had also revealed it that Russia would win this year and to place a bid on them even before the first semi-finals had begun and , the win had also been announced by the BBC five days before the voting even started.

The voting used to be about the songs and performances. Now it’s simply political…

Russia only won thanks largely to loyal voting from former Soviet republics. Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Belarus and Armenia all awarded it the maximum 12 points. Ukraine came second, helped by Russia, which awarded it eight points.

When Ukraine awarded Russia the maximum 12 points, “Ukraine” wanted to be absolutely sure that the electricity and the oil flow through.” As Latvia did the same they know which side its bread is buttered on. Therefore we all automatically new it was Goodnight for Western Europe.

“It is clear that the voting system is based on countries either supporting their friends or not voting for those they dislike…

“It’s like having a World Cup where the results are worked out in political terms and it’s got nothing to do with who scores the most goals.”

In my opinion it wasn’t Dima Bilan that made Russia win it with his terrible vocal song it was that manic fiddle player and an Olympic champion figure skater who pirouetted around the stage whom won it comfortably… So Russia please give all the credit to the figure skater cause if it wasn’t for him than I truly do not know for whom it was for…

As for the actual Eurovision2008 Winner, My congratulations go to Greece whom should have been most likely the winners since it was the only country that maintained most of the 12 points by popularity from the very beginning and remained the whole time to be in the top chart. But I would also agree with anyone who thinks that Greece deserved it because they had a very good song well sang by Kalomira who represented Greece and excellent stage performance with a creative open book idea…

But unfortunately…. the voting system is a fix with judges from different countries forming political alliances that overlook any possible musical merit.

If people enjoy it as entertainment, that’s great, but it’s all a bit empty and meaningless as a competition.”

Ho and can someone explain to me why is Israel apart of the Eurovision contest??? Why not include Syria, Lebanon along with Jordan and Egypt to enter the contest…perhaps than they can form a Middle East bloc!!! LoL….

Now let’s see who will be next year’s winner before we even hear any songs….

Dima is a professional singer, but he was not the only one this year. His song was nothing special. I listened to this bunch of songs and the only ones i could remember were Israel, Serbia, Greece. thank you guys, you’re real professionals.
Some might think that it’s natural that me, Lithuanian, is picking on Russia. That’s not true, I’m just trying to be objective. Russia won because of its ex-pats’ votes around Europe. There’ll be a big Spain-Franco-vote type scandal one day. From now on Russia’s gonna win every single year. God bless Russiavision ;(((((((((

  143. HEYJOE said »

Sorry but this song didn’t deserved for the victory…This year ESC was only presentation of politcal power not celebration of the music. BIG PITY…maybe next year people finaly will be voting for the music (I don’t think so, it will be in Russia where issue of democracy is arguable…results will be rigged, it will be like vladimir putin will say;) like always in Russia)

I am very sad first of all for Morena, she had a good song which should passed for the final….but we don’t have any neighbours to vote for us…..but at least it should win the best song not that of Russia…for me *ARMENIA* was the best followed by Ukraine and Greece. If this Eurovision keep on going like this by time it will end because it is getting stupid. Any way keep it up MORENA we are still proud of you and keep it up SIROSHO=)

i agree with u,there is no justice and anything like it,every year though song and singer russia gets place 1st,2nd or at least 3rd,that’s why it doesn’t mean to take place in eurovision,an dluck comes only with politics there were 5 or 6 the same music, the same words, the same dance, even the same dresses,it was very abominably.
and i want to say there were very beatigul songs and singers,ISRAEL,POLAND,NORWAY,TURKEY and of course AZEBAIJAN,these countries deserve the firrst places,i hate world’s rules, and everybody ,please, be a little honest-minded,tell only the trust!!!!

I`ve never liked those accusations toward the so called Eastern block becouse western countries are the same, for example the Scandinavian block. But the fact is that Russia did win becouse of their neighbours, non west european country gave them 12 points. On the other hand Armenia got 12 points from countries all around Europe( France, Belgium, Greece, etc…) and they also recieved more 12 points than Russia did but that was only enough for the #4 place. Polish singer has a good voice but the song didn`t fit in this year, you could be happy becouse you qualified for the final. Armenia, Serbia, Ukraine and Bulgaria had good songs.

I think that Dima Biland was the best:). He is wonderfull and have a beatifull voive. I voted for RUSSIA and GEORGIA, and did not regret:P.
I Think that Kalomira from GREECE was terrible. She’ s looks and signs like Britney Spears:((..blee. She is barbie without brain. She is plastic and artificial.
DIMA BILAN RLZ and RUSSIA RLZ! I am very happy, tha RUSSIA won:-)
So, I think that polish singer ISIS GEE was very good too, but we dont have friends in Europe:((((((. UKRAINE and GERMANY did not give points for Poland, this sad, coz I think that this country are our friends:(((. Germany gived 12 points for Ich Troje “Keine Grenzen” in euroviosion 2003, and this country gived for Poland in former years a lot of points.
Ok, I loved RUSSIA and DIMA BILAN:***

43 countries is to much! Wath are you guys thinking? And wath about the language ?? Countries should use there one languages!! Its important for the countries culture. Maybe Portugal did not win because Vania Fernandes singed in Portuguese and by the way very well (the better on stage) with a beautiful music.
Another thing RUSSIA???? Russia is shit! Just because they took the most important ,I dont know the word, and they won! If Portugal takes Cristiano Ronaldo there maybe we win! Right???

voting system was always ridiculous, ie Andorra awards the same 12 points for #1… So don’t blame Russia “buying” votes, UK seems to be not reach enough to invest a penny into their success. By the way, not fully understand why countries - founders should be allowed to go directly to final round. Song from UK would occupy last spot in semis, but I really loved the one from France - it would go far up in charts. Most of what I heard is next step after kindergarten or another try to resurrect. Israel was great but this song was closer to Middle East than to Europe. Azerbaijan performance was the best one, needs to be polished a little bit but it was really remarkable. I did not vote for Russia as I am Russian and also just hate Bilan’s sweetness, but it got to happen one day. Almost forgot to mention Turkey, they were really fantastic but missed one thing - if the song were in English they would be winners, no doubt

First of all, be careful, guy, saying, somebody is shit.

Then, you are not right about the number of participants. The more countries the better. If it is going to remain contest for Europe, there is no already much room to expand. If it is going to become worlwide contest, it must be even more interesting. Why do you say “43 countries is too much”? Is Eurovision a closed contest? If you would like to have a contest where only 10 countries participate, you should found it. Why do we need to limit the number? Because some countries haven’t won for a long time? It’s not a good idea. These countries would better present interesting songs, then, if it was really great, people from other countries will vote for them.

As for the languages. I think it is rather more interesting to hear at least some part of the song performed in ones native language. As for me, understanding a text is not the most important thing. I prefrer enjoy other aspects of songs. Yes, I would like to hear songs performed in native languages. If somebody wants to sing in English, it is all right. Why not?

Didn’t anybody let Portugal take Ronaldo? Why didn’t they do so? :) It was a great idea to make a show with artificial ice-rink.

This Festival was a completly JOKE my dear euroepeans…It was obvious that a stupid song like Russia will win, If you think just a little all of the countries that belong to the old Sovietic Union vote for that Stupid SONg.. YEs I SAid STUPID SoNg, thats one of the bad adjectives that i can use right now to describe such a song… The thruth is although i’m From Portugal and I’m proud of It…
All of the jornalist that understand music, all of them agreed that Portugal should won or at least on the top 3, regarding that aspect I also like Denmark song, not songs Like Greece that is a britney Spears imitation, this is a song festival not a home party with dirty dancing music, this is not also a festival Like Live Aid to appeal to peace No this is a music festival and we have no analyse VOICEs and music composition…. I’m Happy to see all thsi argument and I hope sincerely that someone do somenthing about this ….

    Best Wishes from PortugaL

Man - how difficult can it be - withdraw all the EU countries, change the name for Intervision, change the name Brezhnev to Putin, change the name SU into Russia and their gas-dependant puppets with 20% the least Russians living and there you have it. Look at the Turkish voting for Turkey in Germany or Polish voting for themselves in UK and Ireland. Question is how motivated the people ar eto prove they re the best. Russia is an Asian Empire and as such has no link whatsoever with Western values. That’s why objective voting is not in their custom - ergo motivation of a Russian diaspora all over Europe. Imagine the British doing that… For what? You think it would influence the image of Brown’s cabinet? They do not care and that is the difference. Eurovision is supposed to be a game where everyone has fun - puts a song and the best have a chance of launching a career. And in some countries where democracy is only found in the dictionary it does count to win this puppet shaking contest. I seriously doubt if a band the caliber of ABBA would stand any chance this year. I am pretty convinced that Lordi was the last band that put fun into Eurovision contest and succeded. Pity.

i didnt even care about the russian skater cause i dont understand anything of skating and stuff on ice…and if you insist on that…let christiano ronaldo participate…YOU WONT WIN ANWAY…christiano ronaldo is made for playing football…not for eurovision or foolvision whatever u want to call it!!

now…just need to ask something…what did bilan do to all of you? i mean it wasnt a bad song come on…if you keep listening to it its an ok song…for me it was amazing..!!
but just answer my question…why all this hate for dima and russia? cant a country win eurovision without people from other countries complain? maybe this thing about neigbours and stuff ruins western europe &7 yeah its stinks knowing most of countries vote for politics and stuff!! and maybe the song wasnt your liking…..but DIMA BILAN WAS GREAT! maybe judgies (or whatever dunno how to write it) should come back!! but i think dima bilan desrved to win
my questions again : what did dima do to deserve all this complaints and stuff?
why not appreciate a winning song but always complaining?

just think about it a little…and try to answer me…so maybe i understand
